As the development of green mines continues
to advance, mining energy systems are accelerating their transition toward
greener and smarter operations. The electrification of mining equipment has
become an industry trend; however, simply replacing fuel-powered equipment with
electric alternatives is still insufficient to address issues such as low
charging efficiency and high energy replenishment costs. Mines need to
integrate photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, ultra-fast charging,
and new-energy mining trucks to build a highly efficient energy system.
Synergy of PV, Energy Storage, and Charging Solves Mining Energy Supply Challenges
For a long time, large mining trucks have
faced issues such as long charging times and low energy replenishment
efficiency, which have impacted equipment availability and mining operational
efficiency. At the same time, some mining areas are located far from the main
power grid, and extreme weather conditions and complex terrain further
complicate power supply.
Compared to diesel, green electricity
offers significant cost advantages. Therefore, the energy transition in mining
must evolve from the electrification of individual equipment to the replacement
of diesel with green electricity, while enhancing energy utilization efficiency
through the coordinated operation of photovoltaic, energy storage, and charging
systems.
To address these needs, LGMG Heavy
Machinery has developed an “Integrated PV-Storage-Charging-Transportation”
solution. In his report titled “Development Trends of Smart Mine Microgrids,”
presented at the LGMG Heavy Machinery Global Customer Service Festival, Chen
Junchen, Vice President of Sente Co., Ltd., outlined the core technological
framework of this solution.
The solution integrates LONGi’s HPBC
low-conduction BC photovoltaic modules, the company’s in-house developed
full-stack 5S photovoltaic-storage integration technology, a megawatt-class
fully liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging system, and LGMG’s new energy mining
trucks. Based on the “Sente Cloud” energy management platform, it enables the
coordinated operation of photovoltaic power generation, energy storage
regulation, fast charging, and green transportation.
Ultra-Fast Charging Technology Boosts Mining Truck Operational Efficiency
LGMG Heavy Machinery’s ultra-fast charging
version of the new energy mining truck features a 3C super-fast charging
architecture and high-density, high-capacity power batteries, along with a
dedicated all-scenario thermal management system that enables stable operation
within an ambient temperature range of -30°C to 50°C.
Actual test data shows that the vehicle can
charge from 20% to 90% in just 23 minutes. Under extreme operating conditions,
it can replenish nearly 800 kWh of electricity in 18 minutes, with a peak
charging power reaching 1 kWh per second.
Rapid recharging reduces the time mining
trucks spend waiting to charge, improves equipment availability, and supports
continuous mining operations. Through the deep integration of ultra-fast
charging technology with its mining truck products, LGMG Heavy Machinery has
further enhanced the practical application capabilities of its new energy
mining trucks.
Reducing Energy Costs and Supporting Green Mine Development
LGMG Heavy Machinery’s integrated photovoltaic-storage-charging solution addresses both carbon reduction and cost-saving objectives.
In terms of carbon reduction, the coordinated operation of photovoltaic power generation and energy storage systems improves the utilization rate of green electricity, reduces mines’ reliance on diesel, lowers carbon emissions during operations, and supports the development of green mines.
In terms of cost reduction, replacing
diesel with clean electricity helps lower energy expenses. At the same time,
ultra-fast charging technology shortens recharging time, improves mining truck
availability and operational efficiency, and further reduces overall mine
operating costs.
Continuously Improving Global Mining Energy Solutions
In the future, LGMG will
continue to deepen collaboration with global partners to advance upgrades in
ultra-fast charging technology, improve battery energy efficiency, and optimize
smart microgrid solutions.
For complex operating environments such as extreme cold, high temperatures, and high altitudes, LGMG will continue to refine electric mining equipment and supporting energy systems, providing global mining customers with more suitable products and customized solutions to drive the mining industry toward low-carbon, efficient, and sustainable development.
